Marine Biotechnology
Biomedical-Grade Type 1 Marine Collagen
Ultra-pure Type 1 atelo-collagen from tilapia, produced for 3D cell culture and tissue engineering research.
Key Differentiators
Built for demanding research
Thermal Integrity
Denaturation temperature of at least 35°C, higher than porcine equivalents, so the collagen stays structurally intact at physiological temperature throughout your assay or bioprinting workflow.
Non-Mammalian Safety
Tilapia origin removes all risk of BSE and TSE transmission, which simplifies ethics approvals and regulatory submissions.
Batch Consistency
Every production lot is characterised by SDS-PAGE, DSC thermal analysis, and LAL endotoxin testing. A Certificate of Analysis is provided with every order.
Performance Specifications
Key performance parameters
Higher Thermal Stability
Denaturation temperature exceeds porcine collagen, giving a wider processing window and more reliable scaffold formation at 37°C.
High-Purity Grade
Multi-step purification removes non-collagenous proteins, lipids, and cellular debris for consistent, reproducible results.
Low Endotoxin
Endotoxin levels well below the standard threshold for in vitro and in vivo research applications.
Non-Mammalian Safety
Tilapia origin removes all risk of BSE and TSE contamination, a meaningful compliance advantage for regulated research.

Why Tilapia
Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a sustainable, scalable source of Type 1 collagen. Unlike mammalian sources, it carries no zoonotic disease risk and is compatible with a wider range of research ethics frameworks. Our extraction process removes telopeptide regions to produce atelo-collagen with low immunogenicity, suitable for cell culture, bioprinting, and scaffold fabrication.
Applications
Built for Advanced Research
3D Bioprinting
Suitable viscosity and gelation kinetics for extrusion-based bioprinting. Consistent batch performance supports reproducible construct fabrication.
Tissue Engineering Scaffolds
High purity and low endotoxin support long-term cell viability in 3D scaffold systems. Compatible with EDC/NHS and riboflavin crosslinking.
Cell Culture Matrices
Provides a physiologically relevant extracellular matrix for primary cells, stem cells, and organoid culture.
Hydrogel Formulation
Gelation can be tuned by pH and temperature. Suitable for drug delivery matrices, wound healing models, and injectable scaffold research.
